We're excited to announce that we are now offering Shared Cluster plans in the AWS eu-central-1 (Frankfurt) region. AWS users who host their applications in Germany can now provision low-latency, budget-friendly production MongoDB databases in the same region. Visit mLab's create deployment wizard if you'd like to create a new Shared Cluster database.
For a full list of supported cloud providers and regions, you can visit our documentation portal at https://docs.mlab.com/plans/#cloud-providers.
Shared plans provide a single database with 1 GB storage (expandable to 8 GB) on a dedicated database server process running on a shared virtual machine. A Shared plan is an economical way to run MongoDB if you have a relatively small dataset and workload. This plan is multi-tenanted which means your database will share its resources (CPU, RAM, I/O) with others.
Shared Cluster plans are good for:
- Smaller datasets
- Lighter workloads
- Low-budget projects
- Development
